1. Reflector-Reflector is currently not working between WiFis, meaning that students are not able to reflect to teacher laptops without being on the same WiFi. The students are on d23stu1:1. If you would like this WiFi added to your laptop, please put in a tech ticket (please also include your available times). If your entire team is interested in having that WiFi added, please ask your team facilitator to coordinate with Chris Reglis to come to a team meeting.
2. Schoology Presentation-On Friday, I will be presenting at a Schoology conference in Aurora. This same presentation will also be given at IDEAcon (formerly ICE) in February. I wanted to share it with you as some of the information may be helpful! 3. BreakoutEDU-Are you looking to break up the monotony of winter? If so, BreakoutEDU may be what you are looking for! BreakoutEDU has a ton of already made physical and digital games for every content! You also have your very own TIS who happens to enjoy creating breakouts for your classes :] If the idea of doing an entire breakout stresses you out, what about putting together a one clue breakout and using it as a bell ringer? We can customize any breakout to fit the goals of your class! Login information has been shared previously for our school account, but if you need it again, please email me.

Hello!
Here are our Tech Tips for this week-enjoy! 1. Reflector Teacher-There are a few new features with Reflector Teacher. One of the best is that you can emphasize one screen over another when you have multiple iPads connected. Take a look at this presentation made by Amy Banas (TIS at Ike and Ross). Specifically look at slides 40-47 because they are FULL of great ideas and features! 2. Google Calendar reminders on your phone-If you use Google Calendar through G Suite you can get text (SMS) notifications for your events. This Tech Tip is brought to us by the tech teacher, Julie Garry, who I worked with when I was an aide in Wilmette. Turn on SMS notifications:
3. Schoology & Google-On Nov. 28th I sent out the news that the Schoology and Google integration was finally available for iPads. As we explore this awesome feature, I have no doubts that we will find some really fantastic ways to use it! I found today that you can view all comments made in a Google Doc (even resolved comments and even on submitted assignments) by clicking the 'Comments' button in the toolbar. This means that you can give feedback to students as they work and then refer to those comments when reviewing the final product. How awesome?! 1. 12 Day Twitter Challenge-As promised, here is our 12 Day Twitter Challenge! We begin tomorrow and the first 3 days have choices to accommodate those of you who are beginning Twitter users. I challenge you to post every day using the hashtag #12daystwitter and tagging @D23MacArthur. If you have any questions, please reach out! 2. Reflector Teacher-A big thank you to Sam and Yianni who spent last Friday updating Reflector on our laptops! If you did not have a chance to get yours updated or you are experiencing issues, please put in a tech ticket. There are also a few settings in Reflector Teacher that I'd like to point out. To find your settings, click on the gear symbol and then choose 'Preferences.' You can change the name of your computer (broadcast name) in the box below. You can also change how your iPad connects and what it looks like. I prefer my iPad to fill the screen so that the whole class can see what I'm doing. I also use a background color instead of my desktop in case I have notes or windows open that I don't want to share with the class. Lastly, I prefer to use an Onscreen Code so that a student cannot accidentally connect to my computer. 3. Chrome Tabs-If you're like me and have a billion (roughly) tabs open all of the time, take a look at these shortcuts to make your life easier!
