1. Reflector-Reflector is currently not working between WiFis, meaning that students are not able to reflect to teacher laptops without being on the same WiFi. The students are on d23stu1:1. If you would like this WiFi added to your laptop, please put in a tech ticket (please also include your available times). If your entire team is interested in having that WiFi added, please ask your team facilitator to coordinate with Chris Reglis to come to a team meeting.
2. Schoology Presentation-On Friday, I will be presenting at a Schoology conference in Aurora. This same presentation will also be given at IDEAcon (formerly ICE) in February. I wanted to share it with you as some of the information may be helpful! 3. BreakoutEDU-Are you looking to break up the monotony of winter? If so, BreakoutEDU may be what you are looking for! BreakoutEDU has a ton of already made physical and digital games for every content! You also have your very own TIS who happens to enjoy creating breakouts for your classes :] If the idea of doing an entire breakout stresses you out, what about putting together a one clue breakout and using it as a bell ringer? We can customize any breakout to fit the goals of your class! Login information has been shared previously for our school account, but if you need it again, please email me.

1. Fliphunt-Flipgrid users have developed a new way to use Flipgrid called Fliphunt. A Fliphunt is a scavenger hunt that uses Flipgrid to track completed tasks. The scavenger hunt model is based on the hunts where you have to complete certain tasks to receive a set number of points. The harder the task, the more points you receive. Here is a really awesome breakdown of how you could set up a Fliphunt in your class. This teacher already created Fliphunts for a Geometry unit and a Skeletal System unit. If you're interested, let me know! I'd love to help create Fliphunts for your classrooms! 2. Thanksgiving BreakoutEDUs-Looking for an engaging activity to use with your students this week or the week before winter break? Check out a few of the pre-made BreakoutEDU digital games! They embed directly into Schoology! Login information is located on each grade level/team's TIS notes. As you browse the collection, let me know if anything catches your eye or sparks an idea! I am happy to meet to customize or create any game to fit your classroom!
3. iOS 12 & Updates-Please update your iPads to iOS12. Please also complete any updates for Schoology and Notability. 1. Name Change in Schoology-We now can choose a title (Mr., Mrs., Ms., etc.) and have it replace our first names in Schoology. All you need to do is click the arrow next to your name in the top right-hand corner, choose 'Account Settings' and then choose a title and click the checkbox for it to replace your first name. I have done this with my account, so you can see what it looks like on our 'What's Up, Marauders?' updates. 2. iPad Updates-If you're like me and have a difficult time remembering to update your iPad apps in a timely manner, turn on auto-update! This will update your apps as soon as there is one available and your iPad is open and connected to WiFi. To do this, got to Settings > iTunes & App Store>Toggle Updates On
3. BreakoutEdu-Have you ever been to an Escape Room? BreakoutEdu is just like that, except it's geared towards students and they have to work together to break INTO a locked box! Check out this explanation of why BreakoutEdu is the neatest! Mac now has its own box and it would be a great team building activity for your advisory! Check out the BreakoutEDU website for already constructed games. If it asks for a password, it's showyourwork and make sure to keep it a secret from the kids! Let me know if this sparks your interest so we can get planning! Keyboard Tip: Command + Delete to send a file straight to the trash can. Click on a file once to select it (it can be a whole folder, an icon on your desktop, or files in a folder), then use Command + Delete to send it to the trash. |
