Mindful Printing-Do I have to print it? If yes, then continue! If no, think about posting it on Schoology instead! Do my students have to print it? If yes, then continue! If no, have them submit it through Schoology instead! Does it have to be in color? If yes, then continue! If no, think about printing it through the copier. We are really noticing a lot of color printing happening for black and white documents. Maybe print a few pages in color and the rest in black and white!
1. Copier-When possible, print to the Mac_Workroom_Library copier! You can choose all of the normal copier settings right from your computer! Want staples? Click the 'Preview' dropdown and choose 'Finishing.' Want double sided? Click the checkbox next to your number of copies. Want several pages on one page (printing a presentation)? Click the 'Preview' dropdown, choose 'Layout,' then choose how many pages per sheet. With these options, you don't even need to print a 'Master,' just print straight from your computer! 2. Print a Range-Printing a range instead of all of the pages, will help minimize how much we are printing. For example, if you buy something off of TeachersPayTeachers, they usually have a cover page and a closing page that aren't needed, so skip them! 3. Paused Printing-If the printer gets jammed or there is a big job in front of yours or yours just 'disappears,' please remember to cancel your job before printing somewhere else. If the printer icon is still in your dock, you can click on it to open the printer queue. If not, go to the black apple in the top left-hand corner, click 'Printers & Scanners,' then click on the printer you sent your job to, and click 'Open Print Queue.' From this menu, you can delete any jobs by clicking the X to the right of the name. This will help prevent printing several extra copies. 4. Printing Pictures-It's always nice to have pictures displayed around your classroom or hallways, but they use a lot of ink! Consider having them printed at Walgreens (or a similar store) instead. They are about 10-12 cents per photo, so you can usually get 100 for about $10 and they look much better printed on photo paper instead of computer paper! 5. List of Printers-You should have access to the following MAC printers:
Keyboard Tip: Command + P prints the page you are on!
