1. Flipgrid Exports-Thank you to 8th grade for this tip! In Flipgrid, you can export spreadsheets of student responses. These spreadsheets come with a wealth of information like video length, transcript, and number of posts to name a few. This can be really helpful when looking if students met the required number of posts or quickly giving you insight into student participation. 2. Gmail Search-Google has released new search options that are auto-generated when searching in your Gmail. You can click on any of the options that are auto-generated to help filter your results!

1. Schoology Notepad-Schoology released another new feature this summer that allows students to use a notepad in their assessments. This notepad gives the students space to draft out thoughts, lists, etc. while taking a test. Use this help guide to learn more! 2. Gmail-I found out on accident the other day that you can drag and drop emails in Gmail! I thought it was a pretty neat find! 3. iPadOS, Catalina, & iOS13-Apple will be releasing the newest operating system updates for iPhones, Macs, and iPads soon. iOS13 for iPhones will be released on Thursday (9/19), iPadOS for iPads will be released on 9/30, and Catalina for Macs will be released in October. We ask that you do not update your iPad or Mac at this time. Please also talk to your students and let them know that we are not updating the iPadOS yet. I will put an announcement on Schoology closer to the release date to remind them as well.
1. Schoology Grade by Question in Assessments-Schoology has finally released the long-awaited feature to grade by a question in assessments. I know that many of you have been looking forward to this feature! Take a look at their help guide to learn more! 2. Schedule Emails-Gmail released the ability to schedule when an email gets sent. This is similar to Boomerang for Gmail, without the limitations. To use it, compose your email like normal, then hit the arrow to the right of the Send button. From here, you can choose when your email gets sent out. This is perfect for when you are spending a late night or weekend working and want to get items crossed off your to-do list, but don't want to flood your colleagues' inboxes. To view scheduled emails, click on 'Scheduled' in the left-hand side of the window. This option will only appear when you have scheduled an email. 3. Book Creator & Autodraw-Autodraw has arrived at Book Creator! With this feature, students can begin drawing and the app will give clipart suggestions. Such a neat way for all students to create a high-quality book!
Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a wonderful 3-day weekend! Here are your Tech Tips for the week! 1. Gmail Right Click-Gmail will release an update this week (Thursday?) that will open up a whole new list of tools to be used with your right-click in your Gmail inbox. This will help speed up the time it takes you to sort through and organize your inbox. Keep an eye out for this new feature! P.S. It may require restarting Chrome. Tab hoarders, never fear! Use the 'History' tab to restore all of your closed tabs and windows! 2. Right-Click Settings-Reminder that you can find your right-click settings under the Black Apple>System Preferences>Trackpad>Secondary Click. It's most likely set to click with two fingers, but you can change it to one of the corners on the trackpad instead. Additionally, holding Control when you click normally will act as a right-click no matter what setting you have.
3. Printing Stations-We set up two computers on the island that have been designated as printing stations. These computers are intended for students who need to print an item, but the laptop lab is in use. 1. Bulk Edit-With our crazy weather changing our plans this week, I wanted to remind you of the 'Shift Due Dates' feature that lives in the Bulk Edit section of Schoology. This feature allows you to see all of your assignments in one place and gives you the options to change due dates where needed. This may be helpful as your plans have likely changed! 2. Snoozing in Gmail-Gmail allows you to 'Snooze' your emails. This is perfect for setting your own reminders for special schedules, tasks, etc. You can choose a date and time for that email to reappear at the top of your inbox. While we all love Chris' reminders, this may be a great way to do it on your own and give Chris a break! 3. Google Slides Grid View-Alice Keeler (the Google Guru) recently posted about using Grid View in Google Slides to see the whole class working in one space. Her post is full of wonderful ideas and would fit perfectly with the Google Apps Assignment feature in Schoology. Her specific example is using the Frayer Model with vocabulary words, which ties in wonderfully with our discussions on writing across the disciplines and how we can best help our EL students.
