This week's Tech Tip Tuesday is especially exciting as Schoology has finally released their Google Apps Integration for iPads! This has been a day that I have been bothering Schoology about and that I have been waiting since summer to finally arrive! 1. What is it? Schoology now allows you to attach a Google Doc, Slide, Sheet, etc. to an assignment. When the kids click on the assignment, it automatically creates their own copy (no more editing URL's or trying to remind 30 kids to make their own copy). As the kids work on the assignment, you can see their progress right within Schoology in a really nicely organized screen. 2. How do I set it up? Here is how you set this up on a laptop. You cannot currently assign a Google App Assignment on your iPad. 3. What does it look like? Below is the teacher view of the assignments from a laptop. The iPad version looks a little different. You can add a rubric, grade, comments, etc. right from the viewing pane. 4. Other cool information
Extra-Reminder that Reflector 3 has come out and we need to install it on your computers. Please bring your computers down to the Library during your plan periods on Friday to have this done!

1. Device Inventory-Please make sure that you have filled out the Device Inventory from Yianni. 2. Notability Extras-Notability has a menu that you might not have known about. While in a document, tap the pages icon in the top right-hand corner. This will open up a thumbnail view of the document. From here, you can bookmark pages, add a blank page, copy pages, move pages, etc. 3. Submit Page Range-If students are working on a larger document, but you would like to do smaller check-ins, have them submit a page range instead of the full document. The students will share the note like normal by tapping the 'Sharrow' icon and then 'Other Apps.' Before they tap 'Share Note' they can tap 'Page Range' to select the pages they would like to submit.
1. iOS 11 Screen Recording-The new iOS11 has a new screen recording feature for your iPad or iPhone. This means that you can record short directions with or without audio for your students. Here are the instructions for the recording process. When you are done recording, it will save your video to your camera roll. I then recommend uploading the video directly to Schoology on your iPad. I have found that when sending the video to your computer and trying to upload it that way, you lose the audio. If you are interested in sending your screen recordings to your laptop, let me know and I can walk you through those steps!
2. Study Island-All grade levels met with Daryl today to go over best practices for Study Island in our classes. I was able to sit in on the 8th Grade meeting and we decided on a few action items that will probably apply to you too! First, set up your classes and add your students for this year. Please include the period number, class, and your last name in the class name. Delete any unused classes from last year. Next, choose a skill that matches what you are working on in class and create and assign an assignment. After your students have completed the assignment, review the data to inform your instruction. Then rinse and repeat! Let me know if you have any questions or if your team (or just you!) would like to schedule a webinar with Daryl. 3. Passwords-It's always a good idea to revisit our password practices! Check out this Adobe Spark from last year that I'm still quite proud of! It's important that we keep both our personal information and our students' information safe! |
