1. Testing Preparation-With PARCC and MAP right around the corner, I would encourage all teachers to take their Advisory kids through an iPad Spa Treatment and to have all students update their iPads (11.2.6) ahead of time. I would also encourage all teachers to go through Chris' super helpful PARCC Guide, make sure that you can log in, and refamiliarize yourself with the site before testing begins.
2. ICE Conference Resources-Even if you weren't able to attend ICE this year, take a look at the resources that presenters upload! These presentations are full of ideas and resources! At the top of the screen are tabs for each day's resources. Presenters will continue to upload resources throughout the week, so make sure to check back in! 3. Summary Practice-One of the presenters had a session titled, Bell Ringers, Summaries, and Exit Slips. Although I didn't attend this session, I really liked flipping through the presentation for tools and ideas! Here is a quick and easy form that focuses on practicing writing concise summaries or taking information and synthesizing it into your own thoughts.

1. Schoology Gradebook-Have you ever explored the icons in the upper right-hand corner of the Schoology Gradebook? Take a look at what they can do!
Highlights-I really love Bulk Edit. This is where you can change due dates, published vs. unpublished, and points easily. This is great for when your class goes 'off schedule' and you need to alter due dates. I also really like the Grade Column. This is essentially a way to add points without using an assignment. This could be used for participation, completion, and non-Schoology items. 2. Add Checkboxes to Notability-When adding a textbox to a Notability note, you can tap on the circle icon on the top left-hand corner of the keyboard. This will set up a bullet point format, but the neat part is that you can check the circle to show completion. This could be helpful for our students who struggle with executive functioning skills and could benefit from a task list at the beginning of an assignment. 3. Text Rotate in Google Sheets-If you enjoy beautiful sheets like I do, take a look at how you can rotate text within cells. 1. Turn off High Sierra Notifications-We are not ready to update to High Sierra, so to turn off the persistent notifications, follow these steps!
2. PDF to Google Doc-Google Drive can convert PDFs to editable Google Docs for you! Formatting isn't always perfect, but it sure beats having to retype a document! To do this, right-click on the PDF, click 'Open with' and choose 'Google Docs.' 3. Google Drive Sharing-Check out the following tip on how to quickly view who has access to your shared folders! |
